Cause For Concern

Tesco tell the truth, are you responsible for encouraging shark finning?

24th February 2009

We were very concerned to hear that despite one of our members having received an email via the Shark Trust stating that Tesco had decided to cease selling shark fins in its Thailand stores, a recent article in the March edition BSAC Dive magazine, stated that after contacting the well known supermarket chain, Tesco were now saying they had no intention of removing shark fin from sale. This is despite the fact that by their own admission they are very aware that this practice is resulting in many species of sharks becoming endangered. The cruel and barbaric treatment inflicted on these beautiful creatures is not acceptable. Most sharks are thrown back into the water after having their fins removed because the carcass is worth nothing and costly to transport back, so they are left to die at the bottom of the sea or eaten alive by other fish. Tesco do you you really care? Tell us the truth are you or aren’t selling shark fin? PLEASE set an example, at least show us you care about our world and all that is in it and that you are not just about making money!

To all the people that care, if you agree that Tesco need to clean up their act then follow the link below and voice your concerns. cool mad
