MESSAGE FROM THE WCDS:  the whaling ban stays in place!

A massive thank you for supporting our Stop Whaling campaign. Yesterday we delivered more than 200,000 protests including 180,000 postcards to the heart of the EU.

School children delivered your protests to the EU Commissioner for the Environment, in mail sacks bearing the national flags of the countries represented by the postcards. Our message was clear – do not let the whaling ban be overturned.

Thanks to incredible public pressure generated by WDCS and our conservation allies all over the world, the International Whaling Commission announced today that it will postpone making a decision on lifting the ban on commercial whaling. In other words, the ban is safe for now.

We are incredibly pleased and relieved at this result and will continue to work hard, with your support, to bring a permanent end to commercial whaling.

Thats great news and a step in the right direction it just shows that people can make a difference and achieve great things. Hopefully the ban on whaling will be adheared to by all nations.

I think the same action should be taken for Sharks, dolphins, turtles and the many other marine species that are being hunted and find themselves on the endangered list. What do you think
