Like most UK diving if you get good viz then you’ll see loads! lol If not then you could just swim right on by lol At the headland in Newquay there are loads of Spider Crabs, many types of fish and my personal favourite Cuttle fish!!

This was my first time diving in Cornwall and I’d signed up for my Advanced open water with the local dive school in Newquay! Wavecrest Scuba

There are two entry points on the right hand side of the headland at Newquay! The Old Life Boat Slip and this One!
As you drive down the headland road you will pass the slip on your right! Carry on till the road ends in the car park in front of the toilet block. After Donning your gear make your wave to the right hand side of the toilets and you’ll see a rocky path leading down to a gully! That’s the entry point!  Make sure that as you make your way down that you watch your footing as it can get a bit hairy in places when your carrying the extra weight of your dive gear!

Once down to the gully the water is approx 3-4 meters deep, so its a quick jump and you in! lol

After you get down to the bottom you’ll find rocky out crops and as you head out a sandy bottom! Once down you can either head to the right along the headland back towards the slip or turn left and travel sea ward. It is worth noting that there can be quite a current that if your not careful will take you out to sea so make sure you pay attention! I didn’t lol and while doing my Navigation dive did 3 fin kicks and disappeared at a great rate of knots lol

If your really lucky there are some seals that spend a lot of time around the headland stealing the fisherman’s catches lol

These guys are very friendly and love by all the divers as they like to swim along with you and tug on your fins!!!
