Description:

Blue Hole, Puerto Del Carman, Lanzarote

This was my first Adventure dive after passing my open water with Native Dive based in Costa Teguise! We entered the water at the jetty where the boats dock and headed out through the myriad of fish that inhabit the bay! As we followed our guide over the sandy bottom of Playa Chica bay we arrived at The Blue Hole (or The Hole)! This popular shore dive is the remnants of an ancient lava tube, which starts at 24 meters at a rough 50 degrees angle to 32 meters.Small caves are nearby to the right and the whole area here usually has resident grouper and trumpet fish. Various ray varieties are frequent and recently the “point” nearby has seen circling barracuda’s, amber jack and mantas.

Being my first cave dive I found the swim though relatively easy and I have to say probably a bit quick lol I think that I would have liked to have spent time searching the interior for the hidden treasures which I’m certain where hiding in the dark! Unfortunately our dive guide had other idea’s and only having just qualified who was I to argue lol

I highly recommend this dive to any one that has an Advanced open water although I did this with just an Open Water qualification!
The Reason I would recommend it to an Advance Open Water diver is because then you will be able to do this dive with a buddy or two and spend the time investigating! Air allowing lol
